My Stable of Pollinators

I definitely have my strain preferences and, while I do enjoy a good OG Kush, I tend to seek out gassy, skunky, sweet smelling terpenes. Selecting exceptional male and female plants to use in the seed crosses is the key to making exceptional seeds. Potency is the first priority, I’m loooking for cannabis that gets you high. There’s a lot of mid quality cannabis at the dispensaries and I have no interest in growing mids.

In addition to potency, I look for taste and smell. The goal is cannabis that looks good, tastes great, and works!

I’m very selective with the females I use for seed making and look for trichome covered plants that give a mellow, relaxing high and have strong loud terps. It’s easier selecting the female, what you see is what you get.

Selecting males is more of a challenge as you really won’t know what the male will bring to the cross unti after you’ve done the cross and grown those seeds out. When selecting males I look for strong, healthy, plant structure and plants that already smell stanky in the vegetation stage and have a sticky, tacky feel to the main stalk and stems.

Ice Cream Cake x Kush Mints #11

The Ice Cream Cake x Kush Mints #11 male was easy to choose. Great structure and strong stanky smell when it was in the vegetation and flower stage. As you can see, he’s an absolutely beautiful plant and a good example of what I’m looking for. A prodigious producer of pollen that was used in some of my first crosses.

A stinky MACV2 x GMO TK SK is from one of the first crosses I made. I’m making MACV2 x GMO TK SK f2’s and did a Red Runtz x (Kush MInts f2 x Jealousy) cross with this guy. Excited to see what these put out.

Wedding Cake (Triangle Kush x Animal Mints)

I really like the plant stucture on this one.

Wedding Cake

The Wedding Cake is one of the best looking males in the stable. I haven’t done too much with this pollen yet. I pollinated the female Apples and Bananas but haven’t grown those out yet.

MACV2

A very nicely structured plant with long spears of of male flowers that produced lots of pollen. MACV2 is one of the frostiest strains I’ve ever grown and brings that along with great structure to whatever it’s crossed with. I look for females with lots of terps to cross with this guy.

I gently cut the branches with male flowers from the plant and lay them in a Trim Bin. The pollen falls through the screen into the lower box. After I collect the pollen in the Trim Bin, I let it dry for 24 hours and then scrape it up into a small tightly sealed glass jar. The jar goes into the fridge until I want to use it.

MACV2 pollen

The star of the show is my Kush Mints f2 x Jealousy male. Jealousy is (Gelato 41 x Sherb Bx1)

He brings fuel terps and large frosty buds. I’ll be hitting everything with this guy. The Red Runtz cross with this guy might be the best one yet.

Kush Mints f2 x Jealousy

I’ve done a lot of crosses with this guy. I hit phenos #1, #2, #6, #10 and #11 of the Ripped off Runtz (Runtz x Jealousy) with this bad boy. These could be good!!

Juicee J is CapJunky x Jealousy

Jealousy is (Gelato #41 x Sherb Bx)

CapJunky is (Alien Cookies x Kush Mints #11)

Juicee J with amazing structure

Juicee J (CapJunky x Jealousy)

Juicee J (CapJunky x Jealousy) is a collaboration between Capulator and Seed Junky Genetics. The CapJunky strain is Alien Cookies x Kush Mints #11.

I've done crosses using CapJunky x Jealousy pollen with my Red Runtz, Kush Mints f2 x Jealousy, and Apples and Bananas females.

I’ll do some crosses with the Runtz x Jealousy females next.

Another stunning male! I will be doing lots of crosses with this guy in the future!!

I collect the pollen in a Trim Bin and put it into an airtight jar then into the fridge until it’s needed. The trick is to take the jar out of the fridge and let it sit out until the jar reaches room temperature. That way you won’t have condensation on the glass the would ruin the pollen. I have pollen from that is still viable a year later.

These are the males I’m using in my seed crosses. As you can see, I have some Big Boys who bring it. Going forward I’ll be looking for more good males and females in the crosses that I’ve made. I’ll be moving towards breeding my own gear and less pollen chucking the work of others.
